DJ Qualls allegedly attacked by Vancouver police officer

Hollywood actor DJ Qualls has been tweeting incessantly about his run-in with a Vancouver police officer. Qualls alleges that he was attacked, handcuffed and berated by Officer Trklja of the VPD. Video of Qualls’ arrest can be viewed on TMZ. Read the tweets about the incident below. Not sure what happened here, but it doesn’t sound right, and I hope DJ fights for justice. There are a lot of good cops out there who work tirelessly to protect our citizens, but there are also a lot who power-trip and abuse their authority. If DJ Qualls’ claims are true, it’s horrifying and unacceptable that this happened in our city.

I have no control over how things are spun, but know that I stand for equal rights, respect &treatment for all. I dont generalize

I dont want Canadian insurance. I want the Candian govt that pays the cop who sent me to the ER to pay the bill.Unreasonable?

I know Im not Canadian. I do pay taxes here, When my civil rights are violated and I am injured, should I pay for that? Would u?

I wasnt charged b/c I didnt do anything. Was injured, bleeding, detained and released into an ambulance. Getting mad!

What is insane is the guys who were fighting were calmly handcuffed. Officer Trklja jumped me & pushed my face into cement.

My face is messed up. I bled out A LOT. Im hurting so badly, I cant sleep…and Shellee, I did nothing to provoke this.

Youre close. I was tackled, injured, handcuffed, threatened & moved via ambulance to an ER. $800 is the med bill.

I love Canada. Im just kinda heartbroken this happened. Im humilated, hurting and out $800 for the ambulance and hospital

One incident doesnt chance my opinion of a country I love. It does make me feel less protected, though, and that is sad.

Ouch! Laughing is hard for me right now. My chin is stitched together.

kidamy I love Canada. Ive had so much fun here and have many Canadian fans and good friends. Im not letting one bad night change that.

The point is, a cop did it to me. I wasnt arrested b/c I didnt DO anything and I had to pay for his rage.& I pay taxes here.

Because I when I work here, I pay taxes to the Canadian government.

Thanks, sweetheart. Im banged up and my hoodie is covered in blood, but Ill be ok. Im calling @VancouverPD tomorrow

I got home from the hospital a little more than an hour ago. In serious pain and really confused why someone would do this.

Did nothing. Pointed out a man who hit a girl. He said Id be arrested if I didnt shut up. Asked why and got tackled

I demand an apology from Officer Brian Trklja @VancouverPD & full reimbursment of my Hospital bills. Calling internal affairs in the AM

Taunted me for 1/2hr b4 the ambulance came. I was held, no calls, no attorney. AND I had to pay an $800 ER bill. Free healthcare, Canada?

Told the officer. He said if I didnt get out of there, he’s arrest me, I asked why and he tackled me, busted my face and handcuffed me. Then

I walked out of a cafe, there was a multi dude fight. Saw a dude punch a girl. When all were arrested, I saw the guy who punched the girl…

Was not arrested b/c was innocent. I was handcuffed and bleeding while the cop kept saying to me, “you think youre fucking better than me?”

Before it hit the news, just got out out of the ER, Was beaten by a Vancouver Police Officer for no reason. Got stitches and released.
