Andrew Lefebvre was scheduled to appear in an Ottawa courtroom Aug 8 — his second appearance of the summer — but that’s now been pushed back to early September.
Early appearances are handled in a general courtroom on the lower level of Elgin St courthouse, processing dozens of people in a single morning. At about 9:30am, the bustling court processed Lefebvre’s scheduled appearance. An officer of the court said that because Lefebvre’s lawyer was on vacation, he had requested that they reschedule. That request was granted and a new date, Sep 5, was given. Neither Lefebvre nor his lawyer were present on Aug 8.
At Lefebvre’s first date, he was not represented by a lawyer.
Lefebvre is charged with assault causing bodily harm in connection with a May 26 incident at Centretown Pub involving Michael Marcil, police announced Jun 28. Marcil is better known by his drag alter-ego Dixie Landers.
Sheri-Lee Rand, the other person charged in connection with the incident, will appear on Aug 9.
If either case goes to trial, it is unlikely to begin before early next year.
