Controversies, crimes, and parties to greet our guests

The International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association Convention arrived in Toronto yesterday, and will be hosting gay travel agencies through the weekend, so if you’re wondering where the sudden influx of well-tanned homos came from, there’s your answer.

Toronto may soon be playing host to a couple of lesbian marriage activists from Russia, who’ve told Reuters that they are planning to get married in “Toronto or Norway” and then register their marriage in Russia.

Controversy dogs local lesbian MPP Kathleen Wynne, who earlier this week was accused of covering up allegations of nanny abuse by Brampton MP Ruby Dhalla, and is now on the hook for allegedly ignoring evidence that Toronto’s Catholic school board trustees were stealing misappropriating board funds.

Yet more fodder for the “criminalization of HIV” activists arrives, as a local HIV-positive man is charged with attempted murder and aggravated sexual assault after having unprotected sex with a man he met online. Discuss.

And we wrap up this week with another plug for my play, Balls, which plays at the Lower Ossington Theatre to May 17. Tickets can be purchased online at lowerossingtontheatre.com or by phone at 416-915-6747.
