Number of women who’ve had sex with women rises by 400%

According to the National Survey of Sexual Attitudes and Lifestyles, the number of people who report having had homosexual experiences in the past has skyrocketed. Seriously, just so many people getting down with the same-sex sex. Amazing, right?

But first, some context: the National Survey of Sexual Attitudes and Lifestyles performed a study back in 1990 that found that only four percent of women had at least one lesbian encounter in their past, while six percent of men had had at least one gay fling in their lifetime.

But based on a study done this year, the number of women with sapphic encounters has jumped exponentially, to 16 percent. So basically, lesbian sex has soared by a good 400 percent. So if you’re a single lesbian looking for love, your odds are looking preeeeeeeeeeeetty good right now.

According to Canada.com, “the National Survey of Sexual Attitudes and Lifestyles revealed that women are becoming far more sexually adventurous, better informed about sex and less afraid to experiment than men.” Comparatively, the number of men who’ve had gay experiences has risen only to seven percent. Way to drop the ball, men.

Whether this means that more women are having same-sexual encounters or they’re just more willing to discuss it, it’s a pretty good sign. People aren’t as weirded out by sex anymore, and the sooner people are comfortable with their sex lives, the better.
