Watch: Geography Club trailer

The closeted quarterback has become a cliché of gay young-adult lit (The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Freak Show, etc), but who doesn’t love a good ol’ jock fantasy/love story?

Geography Club, the bestselling YA novel and first of the Russel Middlebrook series by author and After Elton creator Brent Hartinger, is coming to the big screen Nov 15.

The story follows a closeted 16-year-old and his clandestine relationship with his high-school football team’s quarterback, which leads them to form the “Geography Club” with other LGBT students, a club that eventually becomes their school’s gay-straight-bisexual alliance.

The film stars Pitch Perfect’s Cameron Deane Stewart, 90210’s Justin Deeley, Glee’s Alex Newell and Hairspray’s Nikki Blonsky.
