SERIES 2000

Here’s the lowdown on Series 2000, held Aug 12 to 19.

Sat, Aug 12-13: Registration at the Colony Hotel (on Chestnut behind city hall)

Mon, Aug 14: Welcome Party (at Woody’s, 465 Church St)

Tue, Aug 15: The opening ceremonies shut down Church St at Wellesley. The street is closed from 5 to 11pm.

Wed, Aug 16: Talent night at The Guvernment (132 Queens Quay E).

Thu, Aug 17: Miss Gay Softball World Series, from 7pm at Fly (6 Gloucester)

Sat, Aug 19: Championships, from 10am

Sat, Aug 19: Closing ceremonies from 7pm at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (on Front St).

The games will be held in two locations, at East Point Park in Scarborough (near Morningside and Lawrence) and at the Oshawa Slo-Pitch Complex (Highway 401 east to Oshawa’s Park Road exit, and go south to Phillip Murray).

And there’s a free bus for softball fans, leaving at 10am from 501 Church St on Sat, Aug 19 for the finals (which should be over by 3pm – they’re likely to be played in Oshawa, but check first!).

As for the Cabbagetown Group Softball League itself, the local play-offs are scheduled for Sat and Sun, Aug 26 and 27, from 9am to 4pm at Ashbridges Bay (Coxwell and Eastern Ave).

The local awards banquet will be held at 3pm on Sun, Sep 17 at The Docks; free for players, $20 for guests.
