The Real Housewives of… Vancouver!

If someone had told me before this weekend that the Slice network was going to air The Real Housewives of Vancouver in 2012, I probably would’ve sighed, rolled my eyes and yawned…. But when I found out about the upcoming show last night, my reaction was a gay gasp, a tear of joy and a squeal.

I go to fabulous (or not so fabulous) events for a living, and most of my spare time is spent working on a young adult novel about the death of Larry Fobes King. It’s a very emotionally challenging story to write that takes a lot out of me. Every now and then, a girl just likes to lay back in bed and watch something mindless on YouTube. I knew when I clicked the link I was going to be addicted. But boredom and a little curiosity, combined with a need for escapism, pushed me to do it. I clicked on the first episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and now, ladies and gentlemen, I’m a junkie. The fillers, the boobs, the tans… I can’t get enough. In fact, as soon as I’m done this blog, I’m going to work on my novel watch another episode!

It’s so bad, it’s good. These women and their husbands are ridiculous, sad, funny, fabulous and totally fucked up – aka, American. Do you think any Vancouverites have it in them to compete?
