Saturday in Vancouver: Art for Life and Diamond Rings

One of the stunning pieces for auction tonight: Breathe In, by Peter Ricq.

The 19th annual Friends for Life: Art for Life Gala is happening at CBC Studio 40, with more than $150,000 worth of art being auctioned off from some incredible artists, and all for a good cause! Friends for Life supports our friends dealing with illnesses like HIV/AIDS and cancer, and to be perfectly honest, since moving to Vancouver, few things have touched me more than the generosity and passion with which FFL advocates. Our scene is filled with events that benefit the charity, and I always feel that they not only give back to people in need, but to all of its supporters. For example, the Art for Life gala will feature a performance by Inner Ring circus and music from Real Housewives of Vancouver star Mary Zilba.

After the gala, I’m rushing over to Fortune Sound Club to catch Diamond Rings, who hits the stage at 10pm. Diamond Rings is an outré Toronto-based performance artist whose ambiguity and eccentricity is as captivating in his videos as it is onstage.
