Rosie O’Donnell on Lindsay Lohan

I love ’em both, but I have to go with Rosie on this one. While on the Today show with Matt Lauer, Star Jones and Donny Deutsch this morning, Matt brought up the fact that Lindsay Lohan is starring as Elizabeth Taylor in Lifetime’s upcoming biopic Liz & Dick. It was recently decided to film in California instead of Canada as planned, to accommodate Lindsay’s legal issues. Rosie said, “I feel very sorry for her. I think she needs a lot of time away. She’s had a lot of trouble doing every single movie, including SNL. She was out and not in rehearsal. I think she’s not in a place to work.”

When Donny Deutsch said, “She’s our generation’s Elizabeth Taylor!” Rosie shot back, “You’re out of your mind! You’re a crackhead! The last thing she did good she was 16. I don’t think she’s right for the role and I don’t think she’s capable at this point to portray that character.”

I think Lindsay is so talented and so beautiful, and growing up with her means that I can’t help but want her to succeed. I think she could pull off a young Elizabeth Taylor, but girl does seem to have difficulty focusing, so I hope she’s dedicated enough to do the role justice.
