Paint the Grange this Pride season

WorldPride and contributors are looking for great youth digital artists

Artists, rejoice: WorldPride, the Michaëlle Jean Foundation and the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) are looking for artwork for a brand new mural.

In creating the 4th Wall Youth Solidarity Project, the coalition is holding contests and youth forums throughout WorldPride in order to find great talent from the LGBT community. The group is looking to showcase talented Canadian youth, aged 14 to 30, with the chance for six finalists to be whisked away to Toronto and have their work showcased at the AGO. The works will be voted on, and the winning piece will be displayed on a public mural in the Grange Park neighbourhood.

“Youth are the voice of the present and the future! They inspire us to be fearless through their own expression and insert new and fresh ideas into their communities and the world,” writes Dr Shelley Craig, co-chair of Pride Toronto. “WorldPride 2014 Toronto is proud to partner with the AGO and the Michaëlle Jean Foundation to promote this creative outlet for youth from across the country, particularly those in rural and isolated regions to find their voice and share their dreams.”

Bust out the Wacom tablets; the deadline to submit digital artwork is Friday, April 25.

For submission info, forum dates and details on the prizes, check the Youth Solidarity Project website.
