Not Just Pink For A Day
I came out at 16 and growing up I loved my mom to death but she just didn’t get what it meant to be gay! I tried once to get her to go to one of PFLAG’s meetings to help her understand but she refused. She was positive it was a group that turned parents gay, end of story. But times have changed, she has passed, and PFLAG is still providing support for our parents, families and friends to help them understand and learn. Tonight is a fundraiser for their support meetings and crisis/information phone line, as well as their Pride parade entry. There will be games, a silent auction, balloon pop, door prizes and more. Harness — Underwear Edition
In my line of work doing listings I come across many contradictions but this has got to be the biggest oxymoron of them all: DJ Del Stamp and an underwear party. That man drops trou at the drop of a hat, or the promise of a tequila shot, and underwear is rarely present! Find out for yourself tonight as hunky Del Stamp and GingerBear Todd spin away the night. Big Sexy Sunset Cruise
Adam Dreaddy loses his virginity tonight in front of anyone that wants to watch. Hard to believe it’s happening after being around so long, but tonight is his first time playing for MNevents and it will be on the high seas. DJs Dreaddy and Sollors will be spinning upstairs, while Zarfan plays in the dark bottom deck. Man Up Amateur Hour Returns
I’ve always wanted to go undercover and perform as myself to see if I could pass as a drag king. Then I wouldn’t have to try and tuck something that really wasn’t made to be that compressed. Tonight the organizers encourage you to “pack it, strap it, tape it, tuck it, bind it, boost it, paint it on and then take it all off! Kings, queens, genderbending and blending of any variety is encouraged. Nudge those drag-tempted pals of yours as Amateur Hour is back for a summer one-off show. The Children’s Hour
I remember watching this movie decades ago when I was just a wee child. Yes, my parents just sat me in front of the babysitter, I mean the TV, to keep me quiet. It’s one of those films that stuck with me because it was years before I realized their secret wasn’t that they were just sisters. Once I figured that out, the whole movie made sense. Tonight is the preview of Lillian Hellman’s 1934 classic about a scandal at a girl’s boarding school, brought to you by Ensemble Theatre Company. Theatre Under The Stars
Many of you, like myself, can find your way around Stanley Park blindfolded (and possibly tied up!). Take some time out from foraging the trails and be entertained by this year’s Theatre Under the Stars presentations. Playing on alternating nights are two much-loved musicals: Charles Dickens’ Oliver and John Waters’ Hairspray. Both shows offer training opportunities to develop amateur performers and technicians young and old. You may see a future star in the making. 8pm. Malkin Bowl, Stanley Park. Summer Threeway at 8×6
It’s not that kind of threeway so keep your pants on, at least until after the show! Tonight’s threeway includes a group reading by three authors that are all members of the LGBT community: Francisco Ibáñez-Carrasco, Ron Kearse, and Mark Bentley Cohen will each read from their published books.
