Choice events in the city this week

Clubbin

No No Pony

Because we all secretly still love this song, Ginuwine’s “Pony” is played every hour on the hour for dirty, dancing folks. One of the city’s three most popular gingers (as reckoned by Daily Xtra writer Jeremy Willard), DJ Orange Pekoe, spins rap and R&B all night.

Friday, June 12, 10pm. Parts and Labour, 1566 Queen St W.

Trade

Tattooed dirt bag porn star Max Cameron flies in from San Francisco to host a raunchy man party. DJs Scooter McCreight and Joshua Reid spin hot beats, and “go-go sluts” Brian and Travis shake their butts all night.

Saturday, June 13, 10pm. The Black Eagle, 457 Church St. facebook.com/getsometrade

Bush Beat

The scantily clad women of summer are corralled in a dance-oriented, indoor location. Ladies are invited to stroll down and pick the filly that suits them best. This chill party features all sorts of music, with a focus on dance hits from the 1980s and 1990s.

Saturday, June 13, 10pm. Henhouse, 1532 Dundas St W.

Tramp: Pride Edition

Dykes, rug-munchers, hussies, lezzies, queers, butches, bisexuals, hags, riot grrrls — in short, all the ladies are invited to booty-shake at a night of hip hop, pop and house mixed by DJs Linguist and Fawn Big Canoe. You can also buy a date at the live charity auction portion of the evening.

Saturday, June 13, 10pm. The Steady, 1051 Bloor St W. thesteadycafe.com

Family

The Queer and Trans Family Pride Party

In the build-up to the alcohol-drenched madness that is Pride, The 519 hosts an event that every member of the family can enjoy. There’s dancing, sports in the park, craft making and a barbecue, and info is available about the rest of The 519’s queer and trans Pride-related events.

Tuesday, June 16, 5:30pm. The 519, 519 Church St. the519.org

Stage

Truth Be Told

Folks were asked to submit pieces on the theme of “the intersection between truth and fiction” for this evening of performance and film. Curated by Alison Cooley and Humboldt Magnussen (everyone’s favourite gay Viking), this event includes Sharlene Bamboat’s “In Queer Corners,” a work based on an object found in the Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives.

Thursday, June 11, 9:30pm. Revue Cinema, 400 Roncesvalles Ave. revuecinema.ca

Pridecab

Through a series of stories, songs and other performances, young people express what being queer means to them. Facilitated by Shaista Latif, Chy Ryan Spain and Alisha Stranges, this event is part of Buddies’s Queer Youth Arts Program.

Wednesday, June 17, 8pm. Buddies in Bad Times, 12 Alexander St. buddiesinbadtimes.com
