The Gay Heritage Project
Is there such a thing as a gay heritage? Damien Atkins, Andrew Kushnir and Paul Dunn try to answer this question in their Dora Award–nominated play. Using their personal histories and ethnic backgrounds as a jumping-off point, the boys’ fast-paced performances are hilarious and inspiring. Following a run at the local queer theatre, the show will go on a national tour.
Runs until Sunday, Jan 31, various showtimes. Buddies in Bad Times, 12 Alexander St. buddiesinbadtimes.com
Pup Night
The monthly pup night is a great place to get a bone. Hosted by Pups Ego, Sprocket D’Husky and Benny, it’s a great opportunity for guys to let out their inner pups and for others to appreciate them. Established in 2008, the event typically draws at least 30 pups and a large crowd of spectators and handlers. There is a pup play area and gear is encouraged.

The Man I Love
So many of the best songs about loving some guy are sung by women — where’s the gay? Kevin Morris switches it up — and gays it up — a bit by singing a slew of such songs himself. Accompanied by Chris Tsujiuchi, Morris’s cabaret features variety of standards and musical theatre hits by such greats as Gershwin, Rodgers and Hart, Cole Porter and Nine Simone.

Regretro: Third Anniversary
You secretly love some of those songs your parents used to play. And 2016 be damned, you still enjoy that song you used to listen to on your discman in high school. DJs Case of Base, Party McFly and Wei Back play hits from the 1970s through to the early 2000s to show you you’re not alone. Sing and dance out your issues at the bigger-than-usual anniversary edition of this recurring party.

Game ’n Gear Night
It’s not often an event’s promotional material will encourage attendees to wear clean undies — what could it mean? It may have something to do with Twister. Kinky pups and pup enthusiasts get decked out in gear and socialize over a few laid-back rounds of Brawl, Mario Kart, Cards Against Humanity, or whatever else happens to be on hand. Proceeds go to the Rainbow Railroad.

Cherry Bomb: New Year, Just as Queer
Or maybe it’s two or three times as queer this year — you’ll have to attend to find out. The legendary DJs Cozmic Cat and Denise Benson spin house and a bunch of other stuff for a crowd of party girls and their friends. Billing for the party encourages attendees to bring their smiles and dress to dance, and boasts “no attitude and plenty of dancefloor space to jam out.”
