My man of Movember

Are you groomed and ready for the Man of Movember gala at 1181 on Sanday, Nov 27? For those of us who can’t grow a mustache (the twinks and those who don’t have dinks), there will be stick-ons available (‘staches, not dinks). Come dressed in your best “man drag” and support a good cause!

According to the official Movember website, the Man of Movember grows a mustache and becomes a “walking, talking billboard for the 30 days of November. Through their actions and words, they raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issues of men’s health.”

I believe a real man cares about not only his health and well-being, but the well-being of everything on this earth. A real man cares about humanity, our planet and the creatures that inhabit it.

My man is Matt Damon, who recently went to see a bullfight in Mexico. Photos of him in the crowd watching the barbarity sparked PETA outrage, but new reports reveal that Matt contacted the organization before they had a chance to contact him.

Here’s what PETA’s vice-president, Lisa Lang, had to say about the conversation: “Matt said that he went to the bullfight believing that bullfights should be stopped but felt that he should see the cruelty for himself while he was in Mexico. He said seeing with his own eyes what tormented animals go through only reinforced an already strong belief that bullfights should be relegated to the history books.”

I might not like a man with a ‘stache, but if he had convictions like Matt, I might just change my tune. Oh, who am I kidding. $300 dollars will probably change my tune a lot faster . . .
