Melissa Etheridge to headline WorldPride Toronto

The rocker will come to our window and perform at the opening ceremonies

WorldPride 2014 Toronto has just announced that Melissa Etheridge will perform at the opening ceremonies.

After recently releasing her anthem “Uprising of Love,” a song she composed to support the LGBT community in Russia, Oscar- and Grammy-winner Etheridge confirmed she will be a part of the worldwide event, front and centre at Nathan Phillips Square.

“We are so happy she could join us for the opening ceremonies,” says TK, arts and culture manager of WorldPride Toronto. “And it’s a free show! We have a lot of stuff and events coming up. It’s shaping up and is beyond exciting.”

Etheridge joins performers Deborah Cox and Martha Wash, who were previously announced by WorldPride Toronto.

Etheridge will take the stage June 20 for the opening ceremonies.

WorldPride takes place Fri, June 20–Sun, June 29 at various venues around the city.
