Lady Gaga invites gay friends to stage for marriage proposal

During a performance in Manchester for her ArtRave: The Artpop Ball tour, Lady Gaga invited her friend Jay and his boyfriend, Shaun, onstage so that Jay could pop the question in front of tens of thousands of screaming fans.

Following the proposal, Gaga sang the happy couple a rendition of “Born This Way,” accompanying herself on the piano.

“A long time ago, my record label told me I was too gay and that my show was too gay,” Gaga said before she started performing. “I told them, ‘Good thing there are gay people all over the world.’”
