Elton John to honour Liberace at 2013 Emmys

The nominees for the 2013 Emmys have been announced, and Neil Patrick Harris, who will be hosting the show, has revealed that Elton John will perform a special Liberace tribute. The HBO bio-pic Behind the Candelabra received 15 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Lead Actor, for both Michael Douglas as Liberace and Matt Damon as Liberace’s lover Scott Thorson, who wrote the book on which the TV film was based.

“We have a great performance by Sir Elton John,” Neil Patrick Harris told USA Today. “He’s a friend and also super-talented. His new album is coming out and is amazing, so I’m looking forward to that.”

The 65th Primetime Emmy Awards will air live on Sunday, Sept 22 (8pm ET/5pm PT) on CBS from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
