Author Emma Donoghue on Booker Prize shortlist

Lesbian author Emma Donoghue’s novel Room has been shortlisted for the prestigious Man Booker Prize.

The six books, selected from the longlist of 13, are:

Peter Carey – Parrot and Olivier in America

Emma Donoghue – Room

Damon Galgut – In a Strange Room

Howard Jacobson – The Finkler Question

Andrea Levy – The Long Song

Tom McCarthy – C

At 40, Donoghue is the youngest author on the shortlist. She was born in Dublin, Ireland, and is now based in London, Ontario. Room will be released in North America in mid-September.

The Booker Prize winner, to be announced Oct 12, will receive a cheque for £50,000.
