A weekend of alternative attire

From a strip spelling bee to a glam Oscar party

It’s an eye-catching weekend for gays who love peeling off or piling on layers.

It starts Friday, Feb 25 at the Shanghai Restaurant with a spelling bee that encourages “hooters, hollering and heckles.” This is Ottawa’s first Strip Spelling Bee, where savvy wordsmiths pledge to peel off a layer with every word misspelled. The event guarantees to give queers a glimpse of what lies beneath the mysterious facade of some of our favourite femmes, boys and friends.

Sherwin Tjia from Montreal and our very own Luna Allison will host.

On Sunday, it’s time for the glam. Queers are either going to be hosting their own Oscar parties or flocking to The Flamingo for an evening of Big Glamour and Big Laughs. Stephanie Stevens and Farra N Hyte from Toronto will host a fancy-dress party and prizes will be given for most glamorous outfit.
