Choice events in the city this week

Friday, Sept 16

Drunken Cinema: Showgirls Movie Drinking Game

Showgirls, the 1995 box office flop (and subsequent cult classic), is the featured film for this edition of Drunken Cinema, a controversial drinking game with gourmet popcorn and a raffle. It is recommended that attendees come in groups of four in order to enjoy the drinking game properly.

6:45–10pm. The Steady, 1051 Bloor St W. facebook.com/drunkencinemato

Oasis Love

Johnny Salib plays Damien, a love-struck boy struggling to navigate his first real relationship. Originally developed during Buddies in Bad Times’ 2014 PrideCab, the one-man show is full of music and monologues. This new version of the play is showing as part of The One More Night Festival.

7pm. The Commons Theatre, 190 Richmond St E. For more info, visit Facebook.

Board Games Afternoon

The Toronto Gaymers host yet another board games event — but in the afternoon! It’s like previous events the gaymers have done, but now you can play all afternoon and still have the evening to do all the things you like. The featured games are Total Recall and Battlestar Galactica, and other games will be on hand as well.

1–9pm. Bar 499, 499 Church St. facebook.com/torontogaymers

Cherry Bomb: September Sessions

Toronto’s (probably) longest-running dance party for queer women and their friends returns to, according to billing, celebrate the fall equinox, new beginnings and “the return of loads of hot, sexy queers to the city.” The music is provided by resident DJs, (and the two people responsible for this hit bash) Denise Benson and Cozmic Cat.

10pm. Round Venue, 152 Augusta Ave. facebook.com/cherrybombtoronto

Sunday, Sept 18

Rough House Dungeon Party

We could all use a little more punishment from time to time. Presented by Steamworks Baths, this sexy dungeon party includes flogging and paddling, suspension and bondage, sling stations, dungeon equipment (obviously) and more. It also has a bag and clothes check for those who want to strip down or change.

1–5pm. Club 120, 120 Church St. roughhouse.ca

Tuesday, Sept 20

The Inside Out LGBT Film Festival says goodbye to executive director Scott Ferguson, who is stepping down. This gathering includes music by the lovely DJs Phil V and Craig Dominic, and live performances by Scarlett Bobo and the bearded ladybear Fay Slift. RSVP required.
