This sounds like a great night but there’s so much planned it’s making me dizzy! Brought to you by Vancouver Art & Leisure and hosted by that sexy energizer bunny himself, Matt Troy, this “underground techno series for The People” promises attendees “the right to the night, with personal, artistic, musical, and sexual… Freedom.” The event also promises to “showcase new spaces in never before-seen ways with top of the line sound, unique art installations + interventions, and high quality sound crafts late into the night.” See what I mean? Drill Night: Vancouver Men in Leather
I am six feet seven inches tall so the thought of someone barking orders at me does nothing, but the thought of a drill sergeant in full gear ordering me to do what he wants turns my knees to jelly. Add in a positive, sex play space and lordy, lordy! Tonight get out your military gear, army boots, camouflage jockstrap and see whose parts stand to attention. 8pm. Into the Woods with Mpowerment
Here’s a chance to see a part of Stanley Park rarely seen by most gay men. No, not Lee’s Trail in daylight! This is your chance to explore the natural and cultural history of the best park around. Sure, everyone will be dressed, and there will be no nameless unclothed men bent over the occasional stump, but at the end of your 3-4km hike you will have a better understanding of how the park came to be. And afterwards you can share a picnic with your newfound friends. Mpowerment events are planned by and for young gay, trans, bi and queer men. Meet at 1pm at the Stanley Park Bus Loop, 1 Stanley Park Dr. Anticipated arrival time at Second Beach is 3:30pm. Check out their Facebook page for more information.
Lick
The word “lick” has so many different connotations for each of us. To some it brings to mind a fruity lollipop, to some it is the memory of a big round bubble butt, to others it is the way to a busty blonde’s treasure box . . . I’m not going to tell you which image stands out for me, but I’m pretty sure you can figure it out! Tonight, though, Lick means the revival of Vancouver’s best lesbian club, with former resident DJ Cho Cha. For those of you who remember Lick fondly, you won’t want to miss this event; for newcomers to Lick, get ready to make a new tradition every Sunday night. Fruit Camp
I’ve been told that this is Fruity Boot Camp, not Camping For Fruits, so there will be no RVs decked out like Priscilla Queen of the Dessert with Conni Smudge performing in a 30-foot chiffon gown trailing through the West End. This is a 12-week free course that “guides you through warm-up, jogging, cross-training, walking, stretching, and general physical exercises for all gay guys at all levels of fitness” in one-hour-at-a-time workshops running Monday to Friday evenings, plus Saturday mornings. So there’s really no reason not to join in, rain or shine. Did I mention it’s free? Tonight is an introductory info session from 6-6:30pm, with the first class beginning afterwards. Finally, you can learn how to trim your bush! Have some fun learning to garden, meet some new people in a comfortable setting, and help grow food for the West End Organic Food Program. I for one tend to stay away from political discussions as no two people ever seem to have the same opinion as mine, which is the right one of course! But tonight is the night for all armchair politicians to come out and speak their mind on protecting our health care services in the West End and Coal Harbour. 7pm.
