Gilbert Gonzalez Jr is a gay man saving himself for marriage. He lives in North Hollywood, aka NoHo (“no pun intended”). Paul from Kansas is also gay and also waiting for marriage to have sex. Both men identify as Christian and are choosing to save themselves for marriage because they believe “it’s the right thing to do.”
The interviewer asks, “What if it doesn’t work out and you end up saving yourself for the completely wrong person?”
Gonzalez fires back, “What if it does [work out]? Why have any goals? Why have any dreams? Why hold out for anything, to get the prize, if you think, ‘Well, it may not work’? You can’t think like that. All you can think is, well, this is important to me, this is what I want for my life, and then give it everything you have to go after that.”
“That’s why people like me save sex for marriage and not for ‘I kinda like you,’” Paul adds. “The process of marriage goes a long way towards making sure we enter into a sexual commitment with a sound mind.”
