Popping Culture: Jinkx Monsoon brings on ‘The Bacon Shake’

Now that her reign as America’s Next Drag Superstar is over — all hail Queen Bianca — Jinkx Monsoon is back in the saddle, or maybe it’s the frying pan?

The Seattle-based performer recently released a new single, entitled “The Bacon Shake.” Bringing back the flapper-esque fun of the Roaring 20s, Monsoon performs with Fred Schneider of The B-52s. It’s a rather apt collaboration, considering that when The B-52s first started performing, audiences often mistook vocalists Kate and Cindy for drag queens because of their enormous hair.
