The gays will rise on Halloween

A new series brings a homoerotic twist to the Walking Dead

Beware this Oct 31, for it is no ordinary Halloween . . . it’s the gay apocalypse.

Lock the doors and seal the windows, because some leather-clad zombies are doing more than just walking.

Beautiful Dead tells a tale of love and lust during a zombie apocalypse. The story follows the unlikely pair of Gage, an introverted geek and zombie-film enthusiast, and Hayden, a muscled jock who thinks zombies are nothing more than target practice.

The two must band together while the world goes to hell. In doing so, the opposites start to find they may be more compatible than they originally thought.

The Beautiful Dead series is put out by Class Comics, which has been publishing homoerotic comics since 2000. It’s run by Canadian gay couple Robert Fraser and Patrick Fillion, who are both renowned writers and illustrators.

Written by Fraser, Beautiful Dead has been in development since 2010 but was put on a hiatus after the original illustrator departed in 2011. It has now risen from the grave and been given new life by Vancouver illustrator Butch McLogic.

The first issue will be released both digitally and physically on Oct 31 and chronicles the madness of Hayden and Gage’s first 48 hours together.
