It was a proposal fit for a queen. Las Vegas’s most famous drag queen, Frank Marino, was surprised onstage during his July 3 performance with a marriage proposal from his long-time partner, associate producer Alex Schechter.

Marino and Schechter celebrated their 20th anniversary on July 4. They have yet to announce wedding plans, but one thing is certain: marriage most certainly won’t be a drag for these two.

The Joan Rivers impersonator is the longest-running headliner in Las Vegas, having been at it for 25 years. He now performs his Divas Las Vegas review at the The Quad Resort & Casino.

Riding the wave of the historic Supreme Court rulings in favour of marriage equality, Schechter surprised Marino by popping the question during his stage show, while the cast of Divas cheered on in support.

Marino, the bestselling author of His Majesty, The Queen, also appeared in Miss Congeniality 2, alongside Academy Award-winner Sandra Bullock.

After performing for more than 10 million people, Guinness World Records bestowed him with the honour of most performances by a headliner on any Las Vegas stage.
