Since 1976, Exodus International positioned itself as a leader in the ex-gay movement and professed to rid people of their homosexuality. This week the group announced it’s shutting down. On June 20, Exodus president Alan Chambers issued an apology to gays and lesbians for the “pain and hurt” Exodus caused and acknowledged that he “conveniently omitted my ongoing same-sex attractions.”
