Multidisciplinary arts festival Chinatown Remixed kicked off May 18, transforming Somerset Street into a colourful adventure.
Attractions included everything from Chinese fan dancing, to live music, to a variety of innovative artistic creations.
Queer artist Matt Miwa treated audiences to a performance piece from his show Kim Cattrall Comes from Hell on the main stage, located at the Shanghai Restaurant.
Natali Leduc’s interactive fan-powered piece, the Thenwedieatron, and a life-size textile interpretation of Shanghai’s resident drag queen, China Doll, by Justy Dennis and Jasmine Vesque, highlighted the festival’s opening day.
Participating artists’ work will remain on display at businesses throughout the neighbourhood until June 18.
