Twenty-five years ago on Feb 22, artist Andy Warhol died in his sleep from a sudden post-operative cardiac arrhythmia.
Warhol was a leading figure in the pop art world. He lived as an openly gay man and his life represented the times he lived in.
“A certain bohemia died then,” says David Hockney, one of Britain’s most famous artists and a contemporary of Warhol.
In the video interview below, Hockney remembers Warhol and speaks of his passing.
Andy Warhol was born on Aug 6, 1928, and died on Feb 22, 1987.
