GLAAD Awards this weekend in LA

John Stamos kisses male audience member in highlights from New York awards

On Saturday, April 21, Los Angeles will play host to the travelling GLAAD Media Awards show.

The stars will be out in full force. Ellen DeGeneres, Modern Family’s Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Glee stars Max Adler and Grant Gustin, and Hot in Cleveland’s leading ladies — Betty White, Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick — will attend.

Among the awards presented will be one for Outstanding Documentary. Becoming Chaz, directed by Fenton Bailey, and We Were Here, by David Weissman, are both nominated. See video reports about both docs below.

The Stephen F Kolzak Award will be presented to Chaz Bono for his work in the community. And heartthrob Josh Hutcherson, star of The Hunger Games, will be presented with the Vanguard Award for promoting acceptance of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people.

Below are highlights from the New York edition of the awards, which took place in March. In the video John Stamos kisses an audience member who donates $5,000 to GLAAD. There is no word yet whether Betty White will pucker up for a lesbian kiss this weekend.

On occasion, the number of editors and other staff who contribute to a story gets a little unwieldy to give a byline to everyone.
