The Dancing Boys of Afghanistan

The Dancing Boys of Afghanistan, a haunting documentary about the ancient and illegal sexual practice of bacha bazi, aka “boy play,” is one of the most disturbing films I have ever seen. I watched it a few months ago and still can’t get it out of my head. Check out the trailer (below), and if you’re able to catch any films during this year’s Vancouver Queer Film Festival, I highly recommend it. It’s showing at the Vancity Theatre and Atrium on Aug 16 at 7pm. For a complete list of festival films and showtimes, click here.
