Kelly Clarkson shows how to handle gay rumours

Kelly Clarkson with fiancé Brandon Blackstock.

While talking to Cosmopolitan magazine, Kelly Clarkson discussed the rumours about her sexuality without the fear or hangups that a lot of male celebrities seem to have about being perceived as gay. Take note, Tom Cruise: “People think, ‘Oh, she’s been single for too long.’ That’s kind of an insult to the gay community,” Clarkson says. “Being single doesn’t mean you’re gay. But I’m never insulted by [the rumours] obviously. I mean, I get hit on by the hottest girls ever. Oh, my God, if I were a lesbian I would be so in luck. But it’s just not my thing. I’ve always batted for the boys’ team.”

Kelly, a Republican, decided during the 2012 presidential race that she wouldn’t vote for Romney because of his anti-gay stance. She told The Daily Star, “I can’t support Romney’s policies as I have a lot of gay friends and I don’t think it’s fair they can’t get married.”

Here’s to hoping that it won’t be long before all of Kelly’s friends can marry the ones they love, just like her — Kelly recently announced her engagement to country legend Reba McEntire’s stepson, Brandon Blackstock.
