Pierre Poilievre wants sports, bathroom ban for trans women

And mainstream media coverage of the Conservative Party of Canada leader’s announcement failed to get it right

Conservative Party of Canada leader Pierre Poilievre says he supports policies that would ban trans women from “women’s spaces” including washrooms, change rooms and women’s sports. It’s yet another dangerous turn toward the anti-trans and anti-science policies in Canada.

But mainstream media coverage of Poilievre’s announcement has also played a part in perpetuating and spreading anti-trans dog whistles and misinformation.
