Target won’t sell Frank Ocean’s new album. Hmmmmm . . .

Earlier today, Frank Ocean’s new album, Channel Orange, earned a pretty dazzling 9.5 rating on the notoriously persnickety Pitchfork, which — for a mainstream release, anyway — is a goddamn miracle. The album has been talked about nonstop ever since Ocean came out as bisexual/gay, and combined with the critical buzz, it’s shaping up to be a pretty big thing.

But Target isn’t jumping on the bandwagon just yet. The big-box chain has decided not to carry the album, and spokespeople have said that the reasoning behind it has to do with the fact that Channel Orange was released a week early on iTunes. Then again, Target also got into a bit of shit last year after it was discovered that it donated $150,000 to an anti-gay politician, so there have been a few people who have speculated that the reason behind it might be a gay thing.

Regardless, you can pick up the album now on iTunes, or you can wait until the physical release next Tuesday, but I’m telling you, you have to get it. It’s an amazing album. Seriously, have you heard “Bad Religion” yet? That shit is bonkers good.
