Sahara Davenport dead at the age of 27

Fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race will probably remember Sahara Davenport, a contestant back on the second season. She was a talented girl, a classically trained dancer and singer who did pretty well in the competition even though she didn’t win. She was also, notably, in a long-term relationship fellow Drag Race contestant Manila Luzon.

Well, news broke this morning that Sahara passed away at the age of 27 (according to IMDB). No cause of death has been given so far. From Logo’s Facebook page:

Logo is profoundly saddened by the passing of Antoine Ashley who fans around the world knew and loved as Sahara Davenport. He was an amazing artist and entertainer who’ll be deeply missed by his Logo family. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family, especially his boyfriend Karl, in their time of need.

My thoughts go out to Sahara’s friends and family — both blood and chosen — as well as Manila, who presumably is dealing with a lot of shit that doesn’t make any sense right now.
