On the web: Hedi Slimane Diary

Nonsense or beauty?

Site: Hedi Slimane Diary
Address: Hedislimane.com/diary/index.php

Dior Homme designer Hedi Slimane has recently posted a visual diary on his website. It’s mesmerizing with its cold black and white images set on a stark white background. Slimane photo-graphs landscapes, statues, sleepy girls and thin white boys. He randomly posts them (say seven times a month). It’s quite the tranquil diary. The pictures tell the story. Or do they? Is this just an obsessive fashionista’s well-cropped nonsense or meaningful bits of a gay man honouring the beauty he sees? One art (photography) inspiring his other art (fashion design). Either way, it seems refreshing compared to most of the loud, abrasive word-heavy sites we’ve become used to.
