Pride is back… with a vengeance!
Pride 2022 will be the first opportunity for most of us to come together as a community—in real life—our first chance to party, flirt, dance and make merry collectively since the pandemic began. We queer and trans folk know how joyful that physical connection can be. But Pride 2022 also pulsates with anger and sadness: there is an unprecedented legislative assault in the U.S. on trans rights while violence against trans folk remains horrifically high, LGBTQ2S+-positive education is under attack and anti-queer and anti-trans rhetoric is on the upswing around the globe. Prides began 50-plus years ago in protest against prejudice and injustice—and that meaning has rarely felt more urgent than this year.
