Wooster Group storms Toronto with Tennessee Williams play

Sexuality is front and centre

The Wooster Group has brought its interpretation of Tennessee Williams’ Vieux Carré to Harbourfront’s World Stage for a limited engagement.

The play, one of Williams’ last, is an autobiographical story about a young man’s sexual and artistic awakening at the boarding house in which Williams once stayed.

The Wooster Group is an experimental multimedia theatre company based in New York that has helped launch the careers of many actors, including Willem Dafoe. Rehearsal clips and an interview with lead actor Ari Fliakos can be seen in the video below.

The production runs until March 31 at the Fleck Dance Theatre. For more information, click here.

On occasion, the number of editors and other staff who contribute to a story gets a little unwieldy to give a byline to everyone. That’s when we use “Xtra Staff” in place of the usual contributor info. If you would like more information on who contributed to a particular story, please contact us here.
