Dallas Buyers Club is, arguably, the highest-profile film with queer content. The movie, about a straight guy from Texas thrown into the LGBT community after testing positive for HIV, is up against some stiff competition for best picture. Gravity, American Hustle, 12 Years a Slave, The Wolf of Wall Street, Her, Nebraska, Captain Phillips and Philomena, which also has gay content, are all in the running.

Matthew McConaughey is nominated for best actor, but so is Leonardo DiCaprio, who has yet to win one of Hollywood’s most coveted statuettes. Cate Blanchett is nominated for best actress, but some question whether the fact that Woody Allen, embroiled in a scandal involving allegations of child abuse, directed Blue Jasmine will work against her.

Toronto-born Owen Pallett and Arcade Fire’s Will Butler are nominated for best original score, for their work on Her.

Find out who wins and who loses when the Oscars are broadcast on Sunday, March 2. And watch our video interview so you can have scintillating Oscar-party chitchat and win this year’s Oscar pool.
