Olivia Chow resigned from the federal NDP caucus March 12, then officially entered the Toronto mayoral race several hours later. Daily Xtra spoke with Chow recently about the hot-button issues in the campaign.

In the above interview, Chow talks about how she became involved in the fight for gay rights and weighs in on the possibility of an LGBT youth shelter.

Also discussed are her views on transit, big-box stores and the growing number of condos in the downtown core.

Rumours have been circulating for months that Chow would run for mayor.
