La Dany.
Royal Ontario Museum. Sunday, May 30. 12:30pm. (WORLD PREMIERE)
La Dany is an intimate portrait of Dany Casta’o Quintero, a transvestite street performer from Medellín, Colombia. For more than 20 years, Dany has entertained the crowds that gather in Bolívar Park every Sunday following evening mass. Xtra videographer Michael Pihach spoke with Jim Giles, the film’s co-director/writer/producer.
Regretters.
Buddies In Bad Times Theatre. Sunday, May 23, 5:30pm.
Regretters is a controversial new gender-bending documentary by Marcus Lindeen. The film profiles two men who had sex-change operations only to realize that being a woman wasn’t the answer they were looking for. Xtra sat down with the director to talk about the film and the reaction from the trans community:

Eyes Wide Open.

Israeli director Haim Tabakman’s Eyes Wide Open explores a love affair in Jerusalem between Aaron, a butcher, and Ezri, a student who comes to work for him. Aaron is married and a member of the rigid Orthodox community. As love awakens him, he tries to fight it and escape back into scripture. But passion ignites a level of courage he’s never felt. Comedian Elvira Kurt chats with Tabakman in our clip below:
