Chinese gay man sues over viral video firing
In what his lawyer calls China’s first sexual-orientation discrimination lawsuit, a Chinese man is suing his employer for firing him for being gay. Mu Yi was outed in an online video that went viral in China, showing a man in a red hat who lures gay men to meet in public, then demands money in exchange for not causing a scene. After Mu Yi was shown in the video, his employer fired him for “not following dress code” and for his “service attitude.”
Egyptian men acquitted in bathhouse raid appeal
An Egyptian appeals court has dismissed charges against all 26 men who were charged with debauchery in a police raid on a Cairo bathhouse. The raid was part of a crackdown on perceived homosexuality by the Egyptian government. The men’s lawyers say the appeal ruling has now proved them entirely innocent.
Jeb Bush for President site owned by high-tech bears
An Oregon gay couple owns the rights to jebbushforpresident.com, a possible thorn in the side of former Florida governor Jeb Bush, who has suggested he may run for president. The self-described “high-tech bears” say they will use the site to educate people about the ways that politics affect LGBT families.
