TD Bank has so far ridden out the storm after Pride Toronto announced, then retracted, a sign-vetting policy in March. Pro-censorship gays, then their critics, began writing to sponsors last month. While big corporations can be relatively risk averse, TD appears to be standing by Pride Toronto.
Rick Telfer has obtained a letter from TD Bank to Pride Toronto executive director Tracey Sandilands that seeks clarification of the signage rules as they stand. It doesn’t look like the smoking gun Telfer seems to think it is, but we’ll be chatting with the letter’s author later this afternoon (UPDATE: read the interview here).
