Police looking for three men accused of sexually assaulting woman near the Village

Police release composite sketches of suspects in alleged gang assault

Toronto police have released composite sketches and are asking the public to help them find three men suspected of sexually assaulting a woman in an alleged gang rape in Norman Jewison Park.

The victim, a 48-year-old woman, reported that between midnight and 3am on April 15 three men approached her from behind as she walked on Gloucester Street and made derogatory comments about her sexual orientation.

Toronto Police Service (TPS) spokesperson Constable Tony Vella says that the victim initially reported to “another police service,” and Toronto Police were notified only recently.

TPS issued its first public notice about the assault on June 7 and released composite sketches on June 19.

They’re asking anyone who knows the men to come forward with information.

The first man is described as white, approximately 30, six feet tall, with dark-brown curly hair and a scar on his chin. He was wearing a dark T-shirt with a Budweiser logo and a dark windbreaker.

The second is described as white, approximately 20, five-feet-nine, with a thin build and facial acne. He was wearing a grey/blue Maple Leafs hoodie. The composite drawing shows him with red hair, freckles and facial hair on his chin.

The third man is described as having a light-tanned complexion, in his late 20s, between five-feet-nine and six feet, with a heavy build and short dark hair. He was wearing a dark shirt and a jacket.

Vella says police are taking steps to ensure the safety of the community.

“We put the news release out to make the public aware of what has occurred. Officers have been made aware, and police in our sex crimes unit are actively trying to identify who these people are,” he says.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Phil Campbell or Detective Sergeant Kim Gross at 416−808−7474, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416−222−TIPS (8477) or online at 222tips.com.
