GLAAD announces media awards nominees

GLAAD has announced this year’s crop of nominees for its 2011 Media Awards. The awards honour “outstanding images of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community” and include film, TV, documentary and music. The awards also include categories in TV, newspaper, magazine and digital journalism.

New this year is the Outstanding Blog category. Nominees include The Bilerico Project, Blabbeando, Joe.My.God., Pam’s House Blend and Rod 2.0.

Joe.My.God. occasionally tips off readers to items on xtra.ca, which we appreciate, so we wish him luck (yes, we’re that easy).

On occasion, the number of editors and other staff who contribute to a story gets a little unwieldy to give a byline to everyone. That’s when we use “Xtra Staff” in place of the usual contributor info. If you would like more information on who contributed to a particular story, please contact us here.
