I am thoroughly impressed by the way CNN Newsroom anchor Carol Costello handled a recent call with Bryan Fischer, of the American Family Association.
Fischer was talking to Costello about “Mix It Up at Lunch Day,” a program to promote tolerance that has been in many schools for the past 11 years. Its focus is to encourage kids to step out of their comfort zones and eat lunch with people they wouldn’t normally eat with.
Leave it to AFA to twist things around and make it all about the “homosexual agenda.” Bryan Fischer talks so fast because he has diarrhea of the mouth. A tsunami of stupid shit spews from his lips every time he opens them. The only clarity or reason in the entire interview is when Costello cuts him off to get a word in.
“It’s interesting to me they’re doing this on Oct 30, the day before Halloween,” Fischer says about Mix It Up at Lunch, “and what this program is, it’s like poisoned Halloween candy. Somebody takes a candy bar, injects it with cyanide, the label looks fine, it looks innocuous, it looks fine. It’s not until you internalize it that you realize how toxic it is.”
The American Family Association does everything in its power to destroy the essence of what all families should be about: love. Eating lunch with someone you don’t normally hang out with, getting to know someone different, learning something new . . . You’re right, a cyanide Snickers bar is the perfect analogy!
Oh, but wait, it gets better: Fischer also talks about how the gays were Hitler’s “thugs” because they were the most vicious soldiers and would do his dirty work without any moral hangups. Never mind the thousands of gay men murdered by Hitler in the Holocaust . . .
It’s after the Hitler remarks that Costello finally has had enough (she lasted five minutes longer than I would’ve), hanging up on Fischer with a curt, “Thanks for sharing your views, I guess.”
