Catwoman is bisexual

A recent issue of the superhero comic Catwoman confirmed what many fans had suspected: Catwoman is bisexual. Writer Genevieve Valentine assured readers that Catwoman’s flirtation with Batman would be unaffected. “Please be assured that Selina’s longstanding connection to Batman has not been forgotten,” she wrote. “That is not how bisexuality (or humanity) works.”

UK gay swimming instructor suffered campaign of abuse

A UK swimming instructor has testified that his managers started a campaign of homophobic abuse against him after he represented a disabled colleague in an employment tribunal. The tribunal resulted in his employers at a leisure centre having to pay out a settlement, after which they began calling him “gayboy” and “paedo,” and forcing him to change in the disabled toilet.

Indian censors muted the word “lesbian”

The Indian Censor Board muted the word “lesbian” from a recent romantic comedy Dum Laga Ke Haisha, according to documents, prompting anger on Twitter. “Since when is it a bad word?” one Indian Tweeter wrote.

In the Guardian, filmmaker Desiree Akhavan talks about her new film Appropriate Behavior, stereotyping, and critics’ label of the “bisexual, Iranian Lena Dunham.” “It’s the idea that there’s room for only one funny woman whose work can be monetised.” she objects. “But no one ever looks at Alex Ross Perry and says, ‘Oh, another Noah Baumbach!’”
