Lady Gaga is meeting with President Obama about Jamey Rodemeyer

Lady Gaga tweeted, “I am meeting with our President. I will not stop fighting. This must end. Our generation has the power to end it. Trend it #MakeALawForJamey.” She then wrote, “Jamey Rodemeyer, 14 years old, took his life because of bullying. Bullying must be illegal. It is a hate crime.” She also tweeted her emotional reaction to Jamey’s suicide, saying, “The past days I’ve spent reflecting, crying and yelling. I have so much anger. It is hard to feel love when cruelty takes someone’s life.”

Thanks to Gaga, not only for being a part of the fight, but for giving boys like Jamey hope and teaching them self-love. It wasn’t enough this time, but I believe she saves lives daily. Watch Jamey’s It Gets Better video (below), posted just a few months before he killed himself, and see what Gaga’s message meant to him.

RIP, Jamey.
