It’s gay Christmas choir time

Two Toronto groups sing for your attention

It’s that wonderful time of year again: the gay Christmas choir season. And this coming weekend is a busy one.

Singing Out has two performances on Saturday, Dec 15 at the Glenn Gould Studio (250 Front St W). Organizers say tickets, which are available on their website, are almost sold out.

“The show is called Shining Night,” says Howie Dayton, president of Singing Out. “It’s a selection of songs that invoke humour and bring about the spirit of the holidays.”

The choir, which welcomes all who want to sing, will deliver a program that will be especially welcoming to queer communities.

Over at the Metropolitan United Church (56 Queen St W), Forte: The Toronto’s Men’s Chorus will be belting out its seasonal tunes. The program, called Comfort and Joy, will also include readings by former mayor David Miller and Rex Harrington.

Forte’s performance is also on Saturday, Dec 15 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door.

On occasion, the number of editors and other staff who contribute to a story gets a little unwieldy to give a byline to everyone. That’s when we use “Xtra Staff” in place of the usual contributor info. If you would like more information on who contributed to a particular story, please contact us here.
