Among the most anticipated films are To Be Takei, The Case Against 8 and the recently remastered classic A Portrait of Jason.

North America’s largest documentary film festival kicks off in Toronto on April 24. In the above video interview, Charlotte Cook, director of programming at Hot Docs, focuses on the LGBT highlights.

Among Cook’s picks are the world premiere of Children 404, a documentary about Russian LGBT youth; To Be Takei, about actor and activist George Takei and his husband, Brad Altman; and a remastered version of Shirley Clarke’s 1967 masterpiece, Portrait of Jason, about Jason Holliday, a hustler and struggling cabaret star.
