Google celebrates IWD with Janet Mock, Cecilia Chung

March 8 is International Women’s Day, and as such, Google decided to honour the occasion with one of their now famous doodles. According to Google, the video features women from around the world, including “the president of Lithuania, a brave Pakistani education activist, the most recorded artist in music history and an ever-curious explorer.”

What’s especially notable is that it also features two prominent trans women: Janet Mock, writer of the best-selling book Redefining Realness, and Cecilia Chung, a HIV/AIDS awareness advocate and senior strategist at the Transgender Law Center.

Kudos to Google for not only going out of its way to be inclusive in its celebration of women, but for picking two trans women who’ve done as much as Mock and Chung. Yay, Google! Yay for not being evil!
